Travel Advice/Reviews about Cuba?

Cuba might be where we go on Vacation this year.

But I'd like to know some thing's about Cuba.

Does communism effect tourism ? How can you have an All-Inclusive hotel when the country is communist and the Libreta de Abastecimiento/Rationing system, is in place.

I saw on a travel show, and the man had to que to get ice-cream

Along with two currency's - and although I have a GSM phone, no networks of my country (Spain) allow you to use your phone in Cuba :S

I've read the Wiki Travel page on Cuba, but I'd like some more info. mostly about an all-inclusive hotel.Travel Advice/Reviews about Cuba?
if you plan to stay only at the all-inclusive resort why go to cuba? why not go to one of the great spanish resorts?

if you want to holiday and experience different things then yes people queuing for ice cream is what you might see (along with architecture, history, culture, people old cars), there is cell phone coverage in cuba but when i go on holiday i am uncontactable as i want a break so don't know how you get around that problem i know obama has lifted restrictions on american phone providers,

2 currencies the CUC is the one you as a tourist use most of the time the local peso (24 = 1 cuc) can be used sometimes especially if you speak spanish (no problem for you)

michelle you can get the local peso at the cadensas(?) money exchange shops 24 for one there are a few in havana lonley planet lists the locationsTravel Advice/Reviews about Cuba?
Tourism is their income right now. Whatever you pay for all inclusive you get to fly, drink, eat all you want. Food is bland.Communism doesn't effect tourism. They will have pork, chicken, carne, pescado, camerrones, langosta, fruit, cappucino, mojitos, cervesa, ron, vino tinto, blanco, huevos.I don't know what you mean a man had to que to get ice cream. Some resorts will have ice cream or you can buy helados by nestle in stores or snack bars. Yes there are two currencies. The cuban peso and the tourist convertible peso. If your on vacation throw away your phone anyway. There is also usually entertainment at all resorts.
The communism does not effect tourism what so ever.

There are many all inclusive hotels. My cell phone does not work in cuba, but Rogers does (canadian network) it just depends on how big your server is i think.

when you change your money you will get CUC ( convertible peso) this is worthless anywhere but Cuba. the Cuban citizens use CUP. You will not be able to get your hands on any unless a cuban citizen gives you it as a souvenir or something.

I recommand looking at the Blau Varadero

look at www.tripadvisor.com

you can look up all different hotels in cuba and read reviews.
keep your mouth shut//do not say anything bad about the gov't//if you should get into some trouble good luck
