I'm being sued for posting negative reviews of a salon and need advice.?

Basically after my visit to a salon someone began using by credit card fraudulently. I did some online research and discovered many horror stories about the salon management/ownership. I posted several online reviews saying while I was happy with the stylist I received terrible service from mgmt etc. I also stated that ';while I cannot prove they are responsible for the fraudulent charges logic tells me they are';. Is there anything wrong with that? Is that not my right to free speech? Now I'm being sued for $10,000.I'm being sued for posting negative reviews of a salon and need advice.?
If you put a claim in writing that is negative about a person or business entity and it can be found to adversely affect the operations of that entity [such as causing customers to stop going there] and what you stated cannot be proved, it is illegal. It's called libel. The only way you can help yourself is to find irrefutable proof of what you claim.

to another answerer: slander is when you simply state something verbally. When it is in print or media--i.e. written-- it is libel.I'm being sued for posting negative reviews of a salon and need advice.?
That's not a negative review. That's a baseless allegation of fraud. It's also libel. The freedom of speech does not cover libel or slander.

They're not suing you for posting negative reviews, because they can't.

Saying that they gave you bad service, so they must have also committed credit card fraud is one of the most illogical statements I have ever heard.
I wouldnt worry about it! Its not slander as long as you said ';while I cannot prove they are responsible for the fraudulent charges logic tells me they are';

Nothing slanderous was said. They are just trying to scare you! Any judge will throw this out ASAP

Slander is the communication of a statement that makes a false claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image.

You said ';I cannot prove';
You cannot be sued for a negative review. This form of lawsuit is called a SLAPP and is a form of frivolous lawsuit designed to intimidate and suppress free speech. You should be able to fight it in the legal system, but it will be expensive.
the salon has to prove that what you wrote caused them emotional and financial harm, and from what you describe, customer dissatisfaction, does not fall into that category
i dont think u should be getting sued for that. got a lawyer? this isnt right at all. ur just voicing ur own opinion. i would have done the same and im sure many people do it everyday.
yeah dear, its called slander. unless you have undesputable evidence taht is was them taht was using your card fraudulently, you cant say things like that..
As long as you say that you cannot prove it, then I don't believe they have a case.
